I had a stroke years ago and I never fully recovered. I was so unstable, I could barely walk. It got so bad, I landed in the hospital for two weeks.
When I was discharged, I couldn’t function on my own, so I was admitted to Bushwick Center for rehab. Now that was a different kind of stroke—a stroke of good luck! The therapists worked with me 5 to 7 days a week and they worked wonders. They have a great room where they help you practice things like doing laundry and cooking—activities of daily living.
At first, I could barely get across the room, but the Bushwick Center team was patient and encouraging. I stayed there for a little more than a month, but I’m back home now, stronger than ever!
